Our Kitchen

Shared kitchen of Cooperative Workers is a 3,500 square foot commercial kitchen facility, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our space is divided into functional areas such as: catering kitchen, fresh packing room and storage.

A summary of our team is here. The only items we ask our customers to bring are small items such as utensils and scales, and disposable items (plastic wrap, aluminum foil, liners etc.).

We can meet the needs from a baker to a team of more than 4 chefs using our kitchen at the same time. Whether your daily production runs or one-time catering events for more than 200 guests, we have the space.

Reserving Kitchen Time

The kitchen is reserved separately. There is a common ceramic wash area in the center of the facility, with smaller sinks or prep in each kitchen.
We manage the occupation of the space accepting reservations for the current and next calendar month. Priority is given to permanent reservations, which allows our clients to establish a regular work schedule. New reservations will be handled in order of arrival.

Cleaning supplies
Each client is responsible for cleaning the kitchen as part of the use of the kitchen, including all equipment, tables and floors. We will supply all the necessary cleaning products and will take care of the periodic deep cleanings.

The Street Vendors Association of Chicago (SVAC) opened a shared kitchen located in the North Lawndale neighborhood in 2016. After a while, the kitchen became a cooperative, called “Cocina Compartida de Trabajadores Cooperativistas”(CCTC), Here the street vendors take turns preparing food and then selling fearlessly. The city inspected and certified kitchen provides a space that all Chicago street vendors must use as established by the 2015 city ordinance that legalizes street vending.
